Two terminals, one booking that accounts for both
Gatwick operates North and South terminals connected by a shuttle, and the two are not interchangeable on the ground: a driver briefed for South will not be standing in the right place if your flight actually lands at North, and vice versa. We ask for your flight number precisely so the coordinator handling your booking confirms which terminal your carrier uses on the day, rather than assuming based on the airline's usual pattern.
On departure, the same logic applies in reverse. Drop-off points for North and South are a genuine drive apart during a shuttle-replacement or roadworks period, so we build the correct terminal into your written quote from the outset and confirm it again the evening before travel for early departures.
Why Gatwick's distance from London changes the plan
Gatwick sits south of London, off the M23 feeding onto the M25, which means the door-to-door time into central London is longer and more traffic-sensitive than for the closer airports. Under light conditions the run into Victoria or the West End is often under an hour; on a Friday evening, during M25 closures, or in poor weather it can comfortably run well beyond that. We do not promise a duration, because nobody honestly can, but we do build a realistic buffer into collection timing so a slow M23 does not turn into a missed connection.
For return journeys to Gatwick, this cuts the other way: we plan departure from your London address with enough margin for check-in, security and the walk to your gate, not just for the drive itself. If you are catching an early wave of departures, an early pickup is simply the safer call and your coordinator will say so plainly rather than shave time to sound convenient.
Long-stay parking and kerb realities
Gatwick's forecourts are metered for private cars and regularly congested at peak arrival banks, which is why our chauffeurs work from the designated pick-up areas rather than attempting a kerb-side stop directly outside arrivals.
